Castillo de Almansa
Uno de los castillos mejor conservados de la provincia de Albacete, que ofrece además una impresionante visión de la ciudad desde el Cerro del Águila, en que se asienta. En su interior pueden disfrutarse los restos de obras de cantería gótica.
Su origen almohade permanece en el tapial de sus muros, los restos más antiguos y mejor conservados de la fortaleza. Es de destacar la torre del homenaje, con su entrada en una zona elevada que dificultaba el acceso. Las escasas ventanas, y el remate de sus almenas transmiten su espíritu defensivo. La escalera de caracol, tallada en la roca, que conduce a la terraza de la torre, conserva elementos de cantería, y está considerada una maravilla del gótico albaceteño.
Conquistado por Jaime I de Aragón, fue cedido a la Orden del Temple, pasó después a Castilla, y fue dotado con dos fueros, el de Requena y el de Cuenca, por el rey sabio Alfonso X.

One of the best preserved castles in the province of Albacete, which also offers an impressive view of the city from the Cerro del Águila, on which it sits. Inside you can enjoy the remains of Gothic stonework.
