Cala Galdana es la playa turística por excelencia de la costa sur de Menorca. A pesar de eso, se trata de una playa espectacular que comparte con todas las playas del sur la arena blanca y las aguas transparentes. La longitud de la playa es superior a los 400 metros, y tal y como se puede ver en las imágenes, se trata de una playa con una zona de baño inmensa.
La salida natural del barranco de Algendar en la playa se ha convertido con el paso del tiempo en un puero de embarcaciones de poco calado, en lo que se conoce como el río de Cala Galdana.

Cala Galdana is the tourist beach par excellence of the south coast of Menorca. In spite of that, it is a spectacular beach that shares with all the beaches of the south the white sand and the transparent waters. The length of the beach is over 400 meters, and as you can see in the images, it is a beach with a huge swimming area.
The natural outlet of the Algendar ravine on the beach has become, with the passage of time, a short-draft boat, on what is known as the Cala Galdana river.

El Faro de Artrutx está unos 8 km al sur de Ciudadela, en el Cap d’Artrutx. Se trata de un faro construido a mediados del siglo XIX, y rodeado de una urbanización por lo que no tiene tanto encanto como por ejemplo los faros de Punta Nati o Cavalleria.
Su principal característica son sus rayas blancas y azules, que vistas desde el mar llaman bastante la atención. Cuando se inauguró por primera vez, el sistema de iluminación funcionaba con petróleo, y la electricidad no llegó a este faro hasta el año 1930.

The Artrutx Lighthouse is about 8 km south of Ciudadela, in the Cap d'Artrutx. It is a lighthouse built in the mid-nineteenth century, and surrounded by an urbanization so it is not as charming as for example the lighthouses of Punta Nati or Cavalleria.
Its main feature are its white and blue stripes, which, seen from the sea, attract a lot of attention. When it was inaugurated for the first time, the lighting system worked with oil, and electricity did not reach this lighthouse until 1930.

El castillo o torre de San Nicolás es una torre paramilitar de defensa y vigilancia, construida a finales del siglo XVII (hacia 1680) en Ciudadela de Menorca por ingenieros militares españoles.
En su exterior, existen una serie de esculturas que conforman un lugar muy bello para visitar.

The castle or tower of San Nicolás is a paramilitary defense and surveillance tower, built at the end of the 17th century (around 1680) in Ciudadela de Menorca by Spanish military engineers.
On the outside, there are a series of sculptures that make up a very beautiful place to visit.

Desde cala Galdana existe una ruta espectacular que nos puede llevar hasta cala Macarella y su hermana Macarelleta.
Es un camino sin demasiada dificultad y por el podremos contemplar unos paisajes maravillosos.

Ciudadela, el Port Antic

Ciutadella es la ciudad más poblada de Menorca (29.315 habitantes según INE 2011), y sede del obispado de la isla ; hasta 1714 fue residencia del gobernador británico de la isla así como de la Universidad General de Menorca . Actualmente se la denomina Ciutadella de Menorca de manera oficial, para no confundirla con otros topónimos de los Países Catalanes y añadiendo así ciertas connotaciones históricas en cuanto a la antigua personalidad política de esta población, antes de ser perdida por los catalanes.

Ciutadella is the most populated city in Menorca (29,315 inhabitants according to INE 2011), and the seat of the bishopric of the island; until 1714 it was the residence of the British governor of the island as well as the General University of Menorca. Currently it is called Ciutadella de Menorca officially, not to be confused with other place names of the Catalan Countries and adding certain historical connotations in terms of the former political personality of this population, before being lost by the Catalans.
