The plan of the castle of Tabernas adapts to the irregularities of the land. Among its most characteristic defensive elements are its six towers, of which today there are still some remains. Three of them were solid and the others were not. The interior of the building was divided in two parts through a wide wall, in whose center was a tower of circular form that is considered that tower of Homage. One part of the room served as a place of residence and the other part was used for military purposes. It had underground dependencies that served to store cereals and other uses.
A prominent element in this castle is its access door, which is framed between two square shaped towers, composed of several parts, which gives it an important height. At the same time that it acquires height they are being finer, which provides strength to the building. The color is different because the door has been rebuilt later.
In the seventeenth century these castles lost importance which made them reach the nineteenth century in a poor state of conservation. If to this we add the damages suffered in the War of Independence we verified that the state of the building is quite bad. The remains of the towers, canvases and the access door remain.
