La isla de Gozo comparte historia con la isla de Malta, pero es físicamente diferente y un destino turístico mucho más tranquilo. El tamaño de Gozo supone un tercio del tamaño de Malta y se caracteriza por ofrecer un entorno más verde y más rural. Cuenta con numerosos (más que Malta) valles profundos, acantilados escarpados, colinas y sinuosos caminos rurales. A diferencia de Malta, el patrimonio de Gozo se encuentra en la tierra, no en los edificios.
