Teatro romano de Cartagena

El teatro romano de Cartagena es un teatro de época romana, construido entre los años 5 y 1 a. C. en la ciudad de Carthago Nova, actual Cartagena. Tenía capacidad para unos 7000 espectadores, y estuvo en uso hasta el siglo III, a partir del cual se superpusieron varias edificaciones. En 1988 fue descubierto por el arqueólogo de la Universidad de Murcia Sebastián Ramallo Asensio y las excavaciones dirigidas por él lograron exhumarlo para poder ser visitado en el marco del Museo del Teatro Romano. El 21 de enero de 1999 fue declarado Bien de Interés Cultural en la categoría de monumento.

The Roman theater of Cartagena is a Roman theater, built between the years 5 and 1 a. C. in the city of Carthago Nova, present Cartagena. It had capacity for about 7,000 spectators, and was in use until the third century, from which several buildings were superimposed. In 1988 it was discovered by the archaeologist of the University of Murcia Sebastián Ramallo Asensio and the excavations directed by him managed to exhume it to be able to be visited in the framework of the Museum of the Roman Theater. On January 21, 1999, it was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in the monument category.
