Torre de San Sadorniño

En frente al posiblemente barrio más viejo de Cambados, Santo Tomé, se encuentran en una pequeña isla llamada "A Figueira", los restos de lo que en su día fue una fortaleza medieval. Tan sólo quedan en pie dos muros de una torre que es lo que hace que hoy en día la llamemos Torre de San Sadorniño. La isla se haya unida al marinero barrio de Santo Tomé o Vila Vella por un estrecho y largo puente recientemente reconstruído que mide más de 170 m. Merece la pena dar un paseo por el barrio y admirar las viejas casas marineras recientemente reformadas por el plan estatal de viviendas 2005-2008. El barrio conserva una tipología tradicional de villa marinera y se localiza enclavado sobre las mismas rocas de la costa. Aquí se encuentra también la playa de la Mouta que cuando la marea está baja se puede acceder prácticamente andando desde ella al pequeño islote donde se ubican los restos históricos. Cuando hay bajamar podremos ver cientos de mariscadores en plena faena.

In front of the possibly older neighborhood of Cambados, Santo Tomé, they are in a small island called "A Figueira", the remains of what was once a medieval fortress. Only two walls of a tower remain standing, which is what we call today the San Sadorniño Tower. The island has been joined to the sailor district of Santo Tomé or Vila Vella by a narrow and long bridge recently reconstructed that measures more than 170 m. It is worth taking a walk through the neighborhood and admire the old fishermen houses recently renovated by the state housing plan 2005-2008. The neighborhood retains a traditional typology of fishing village and is located on the same rocks of the coast. Here is also the beach of La Mouta that when the tide is low can be accessed practically walking from it to the small island where the historical remains are located. When there is low tide we can see hundreds of shellfish workers in full slaughter.
