Ifach

The cathedral of Avila was built between 1160 and 1180 when the wall was being built. Its apse, called in Ávila cimorro, was buried in the wall itself being one more element of the defensive set (it is considered the strongest). The outer part of the cimorro was endowed with a lining that increased its warlike character at the end of the XIV century hiding the absidiolos.
*
The cimorro owns a corridor of round on a run knocker defended by great battlements. On this are two more crenellated barriers. The temple itself is integrated as an element of defense with many military elements in it.

The tradition says that it was from this place where Alfonso VII, when he was a boy, was shown to his stepfather, Alfonso the Battalador king of Aragon and that the Aulans did not trust him. The king, annoyed by the distrust shown, ordered the execution of 60 hostages.
