Piedrafita do Cebreiro
O Cebreiro es el primer pueblo del Camino Francés en Galicia y se trata de un paraje histórico y natural difícil de olvidar. Situado en la cordillera de Los Ancares, en la provincia de Lugo y a 1.330 metros de altitud, a Pedrafita do Cebreiro llegan desde hace siglos peregrinos de toda Europa. Pueblo legendario, su primer hospital de peregrinos data del año 835 y en el siglo XI los monjes de Aurillac, en Francia, inician la etapa de esplendor del Monasterio local.

La fama de Pedrafita do Cebreiro toma aún más relevancia por el conocido como Milagro del Santo Grial. Según la leyenda, un vecino del municipio asistió a misa a pesar que ese día había un fuerte temporal de nieve. El monje que oficiaba la Eucaristía se burló de su sacrificio, exclamando que el feligrés había hecho el esfuerzo por un poco de pan y vino. En ese momento, el vino tornó sangre y la hostia se transformó en carne. La fama de la pequeña localidad lucense se extendió por Europa y en 1486 acudieron a O Cebreiro los Reyes Católicos, donde donaron el relicario para el Santuario y otorgaron a la villa privilegios a lo largo de los años.

O Cebreiro is the first village on the French Way in Galicia and it is a historic and natural place that is hard to forget. Located in the mountain range of Los Ancares, in the province of Lugo and at 1,330 meters of altitude, Pedrafita do Cebreiro has been arriving for centuries from all over Europe. Legendary town, its first hospital of pilgrims dates from the year 835 and in the eleventh century the monks of Aurillac, in France, begin the splendor of the local monastery.

The fame of Pedrafita do Cebreiro is even more relevant for what is known as Miracle of the Holy Grail. According to the legend, a neighbor of the municipality attended mass despite the fact that there was a strong snowstorm that day. The monk who officiated at the Eucharist made fun of his sacrifice, exclaiming that the parishioner had made the effort for some bread and wine. At that time, the wine turned to blood and the host became flesh. The fame of the small town of Lugo spread throughout Europe and in 1486 the Catholic Kings came to O Cebreiro, where they donated the reliquary for the Sanctuary and granted the town privileges over the years.
