Puente de El Estacio


Esta Gola, canal del Estacio es artificial, construida sobre una gola natural,  y salida obligada para las embarcaciones que desean cruzar del Mar Menor al Mar Mediterráneo y viceversa.
El primer puente del Estacio fue construido en 1969 era giratorio y permitió el paso de vehículos a la zona norte de la Manga, una vez que se abrió el canal del Estacio que une ambos mares, aunque muy estrecho de un solo carril, producía atascos y paradas obligatorias de vehículos.
Actualmente el puente sobre el canal es basculante y fue inaugurado el 16 de Mayo de 2003 que sustituyó al anterior puente giratorio.

Con un total de dos secciones basculantes y dos carriles de circulación de 60mts de largo, facilita el paso de embarcaciones según un horario, siempre que cumplan los requisitos de calado (profundidad  máxima del canal 4mts). Cuando  el puente está totalmente abierto, obtenemos una visión completa del canal, emulando de forma simbólica la puerta de entrada al Mar Menor
Se ha dejado un galibo de 7m, lo que permite el paso de la mayor parte de embarcaciones a motor que no lleven mástil.
Todo el sistema se controla desde una cabina de cincuenta metros de alto con una gran visibilidad en todas las direcciones.
