En la gran roca que separa las dos playas se asentaba la fortaleza que servía de defensa ante las incursiones de piratas argelinos y berberiscos, en los siglos XIV, XV y XVI. Posteriormente el Castillo fue abandonado, quedando algunos restos de las murallas, que yacían sobre las rocas del mirador, conocido también como "Balcón del Mediterráneo".

Actualmente ha sido domolido, para llevar a cabo un proyecto de excavación y musealización del Castell, en el cual se pretende estudiar, documentar y mostrar los restos del castillo, foco turístico destacable de la metrópoli Benidormense.

El ambicioso proyecto se basa en un proyecto integral sobre todo el perímetro que podría ocupar la fortificación original, eso si, sin afectar a las edificaciones de la zona y manteniendo el paso a los visitantes y el acceso al mirador.

Currently it has been dominated, to carry out an excavation and musealization project of the Castell, in which it is intended to study, document and show the remains of the castle, a remarkable tourist focus of the Benidormense metropolis.

The ambitious project is based on a comprehensive project on the entire perimeter that the original fortification could occupy, but without affecting the buildings in the area and keeping visitors and the access to the viewpoint.
